I was bored in school one day and it was a pretty normal day when I fell asleep in class. The teacher was nice enough to wake me by having the class laugh at me about something I missed so I woke up to laughter and my friend said,
“He just said that he’s sure you’re paying the most attention even though you were asleep.”
“Oh. I miss anything else?”
“Nope”
I was tempted to go back to sleep but the teacher would have gotten angry if I did so I simply zoned in and out. After the bell rang I got up and saw everyone else slowly getting up. Not like they were all tired and slowly waking up but like they were in a pool and were physically moving slowly, but kept getting slower until they just stopped and were like statues heading towards the door. Only half of them were standing and I was simply standing there staring at everything for a minute before I went around the school looking at everything. I touched a few things and they moved easily and when I let a paper go in the air it stayed there. I figured somehow time had stopped so I shouted as loud as I could and felt my vocal cords move but heard nothing. I left school and got my bike that I took there and went around town seeing everyone frozen and the cars stopped. I wasn’t sure how it had stopped but it was really weird and I kept hoping I’d see someone else like me where they were moving normally. Still I saw no one and instead decided to grab something to eat so I made myself a sandwich at Subway. Then I wondered how water would react if I got in so I went to the river and once I was about to go in my foot didn’t sink in the water but I walked on it like it was solid. Afterwards I got out and went to my house. Not sure why I went there or what I was planning to do, I took a nap since no one was there and I didn’t know what else to do. When I woke nothing had changed as I was hoping but I saw someone walk by my house, and went out to stop them. When she saw me her eyes widened and they tried saying something but I couldn’t hear anything and couldn’t lip read, but then she pulled out a notepad and pencil and wrote.
“Do you know how time stopped?” She had really nice hand writing and I think I really liked her right away with her dark hair and light blue eyes that lit up.
“No I was hoping you did” I wrote back.
“Any clue of what to do?” We were watching each other write and I liked being so close to her even though I wondered if it was weird to be thinking about such things when the whole world likely just froze.
“None, have you seen anyone else or anything moving since it stopped?” I asked.
“No. I wonder if it has something to do with us since we’re the only ones I see.”
“Maybe. Let’s see if there’s anything we have in common. Where were you when time froze?”
“I was at my school just getting to class when everyone stopped moving you?”
“Class was just over when it stopped. How old are you?”
“I’m 15 you?”
“16. What school do you go to?”
“I go to Saint Clary’s high school how about you?”
“I go to Redmound high school.”
“Do you have a girlfriend?”
I stopped and looked at her for a second then nodded that I didn’t.
“Do you have a boyfriend?”
She nodded back that she didn’t.
“I have a crazy idea that’s likely wrong.” I write.
“Ok what is it?”
“Do you like me even though you don’t know me?”
She hesitated then after she turned the notebook away and wrote.
“Yes. Do you feel the same even though you don’t know me either?”
“Yes” I write.
She reads it and smiles and looks at me I look for a second then take her hand to show her what I found about water. We go dance on water then go walk around my school since it was close and I make her a sandwich since I can’t cook anything with the flames not working and then we go and eat on the roof of my house when suddenly the cars start moving again.
“Oh! Hey, look.” I say since she was still looking at me smiling.
She looks where I pointed and saw the cars moving and bounced while sitting for joy then kissed me. I was surprised but happy. She stopped then looked away red.
“Wow.” Was all I could say.
She looked back at me then grabbed her notebook again and wrote.
“Sorry, I was just so happy there.”
I guessed that she was too embarrassed to talk so I wrote.
“I don’t mind.” But I knew I was red.
“I should tell you.” She continues writing.
“Yes?” I said.
“I’m actually deaf.”
I stopped and looked at her.
“I don’t mind.” I wrote.
